Frequently asked questions
Do my guests need to install an app?
No. They open tablow.app in any browser and scan your QR code, or type the 6-letter room code instead. Nothing to install, no account to make, and guest sessions are anonymous.
Can several guests read in different languages at the same time?
A room works with two languages: yours and your guests'. You pick the pair when you open the room, and every guest who shares that language reads along on their own phone. Tablow supports 60+ languages, including English, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, German, Spanish, and French.
How much does it cost to host?
The Tablow iOS app is free to download, and joining as a guest is always free for your visitors. Hosting a live translated room uses translation minutes. Current plans and prices are in the app.
Do guests need to speak into their own phones?
No. Your iPhone listens to the conversation, and Tablow transcribes and translates everyone it hears clearly. Guests only read, on their own phone, and when they speak near your phone that gets translated for you too.
Is the conversation stored?
Live audio is streamed for transcription only and is never stored on Tablow's servers. By default the transcript and the summary are deleted 7 days after the room ends, and a host can delete them sooner.
Does it work in a noisy common room?
Tablow transcribes what your iPhone hears clearly. At a front desk or around a table it works well; in a loud room, keep the phone close to whoever is speaking.
